o we built an aquarium for Marcus. The idea is to motivate him to get up in the morning to feed the fish. Some sort of a duty or responsibility for the kid. But it ended up with Dara and I getting a little too obsessed with it – but nothing crazy.
First, we bought a 2-feet wide, second hand tank (for $75 AuD) from Facebook Marketplace. It came with good lighting and a filter. So it was a good deal. Although we will have to replace the filter because it takes up too much space in the tank. We will replace it with an external filter which should be on its way.
We picked up some soil (substrate, gravel, and fine sand) from Bunnings and Paul’s Aquarium. Added some water treatment stuffs, and later water plants from another shop. Then we installed heaters and thermometers. With a bit of Internet research and help from a “fish enthusiast” friend, we finally got some guppies for Marcus today.
He was soo excited.

We are still on the process of trying to find out which fishes are good for beginners. In short, fishes that doesn’t tend to kill each other. But I would say, this was a great success. I’m happy with how it turned out.

Next mod:

2. Plant some moss
3. Get more fish
