Stretch Family Farm is a ginger, turmeric and citrus farm at Beerwah, QLD. The drive takes about an hour and 10 minutes (90 km away) from Brisbane CBD.

During citrus season, the owners would hold an event (announced through their Facebook Page) to open the farm to the public. Admission is $20 for every car/vehicle. This includes all you can eat and pick from the orchards. They have about 600 Mandarin trees but only a part of the farm is open to the public. Which is more than enough even with the large number of people that turned up.

My fondest memories of childhood was when we would go to Batac, Ilocos Norte, to pick from “Lomboy” trees. So we figured Marcus might like this. And sure enough, Marcus had a blast. He would pick the Mandarin after I shake it off the trees. (Note to self: bring a long hook next time).

They also have sheep for feeding activity. That was fun too. They had one Alpaca named Paul. He was a bit of a celebrity for the kids. It was my first time seeing one too. Afterwards, there are plenty of spaces in the farm to lay your picnic blanket and appreciate your harvest.

The price of admission is well worth it. It was really a very nice experience and the mandarins were sweet. You can check their website here.
