I

t’s the Ekka Holiday! Sort of. Ekka is usually a week long event but it got cut short due to Covid-19 restrictions. It’s still a long weekend so I’ll take it. We already had previous plans to drive to Rainbow Beach and go to Frasier Island. But it got cancelled because of, you guessed it, Covid. We’re glad it’s happening because our friends who are with us are going home to the Philippines after this. Would have been a bummer if it got cancelled again. This time, we’re all set and ready to go.

But it turns out, everybody had the same plan to go outside of Brisbane. What should have been a 2 and a half hour drive turned to almost 4 hours from the traffic.

Rest Stop

We arrived at Rainbow Beach Rd passed 12pm and had lunch at Brent’s Burgers. Afterwards, we went to buy some groceries (a bit more expensive than usual). Left our bags at our accommodation (was very nice btw). Then headed to our first stop (Carlo Sand Blow). There’s a walking track (a very short one) after parking. Starting on this entrance here:

Then this view will greet you… It was pretty awesome.
