Hunt for Filipino Food

Day 2 of 2 of our Filipino Food hunting. Disappointed we didn't stay long sa #barriofiesta2021. Ang konti ng kainan at ang haba ng mga pila. Tapos naka blast yung loud speakers from stage sa pila. hindi na trip ni Marcus mag stay. Mission accomplished.

3 Day Lockdown in Brisbane

The three-day lockdown has been productive for us. We've finished sorting the garage and collected two big boxes, a suitcase, and bags of stuff for donation. (Child not included)

Project: Kombucha

Trying our hands on making home made kombucha. Not gonna lie. I have no clue on how it's done or what happens in the background. I would just ask Dara and trust her on the process. All I know is that it is a fermented tea drink with the help of bacteria and yeast called a "scoby". The fermented tea itself takes about 5 days. Then there's another 2-3 days to add the flavouring which is exactly what we just did. It's pretty cool. There's all this debate about the health benefits from this beverage, but hey, people drink beer right?

Aquarium Update

Very happy with our first aquascaping project. Before: After: Now we have: 10 Neon Tetras (Marcus calls them the Ket Brothers) 2 Kuhli Loaches (called Orochimaru and Kabuto) 2 Bristlenose Catfish (called Bob and Bob Jr.) 2 Siamese Algae Eaters (called Splash and Dash) And probably around 20+ Cherry shrimps. We are expecting more cherry shrimps as they keep breeding with 2 of them pregnant. The plants grow so fast so we trim them down when needed. Marcus' job is to feed the fishes. He feeds them twice, in the morning and in the evening. After some tweaking and

Journal Entry – 16 Sept 2020

I keep forgetting one of the main reasons why this website started. That is to use it as a journal. To keep my mind off from other adulting stuffs. So this is my nth attempt to start doing it again. It's probably a good idea to create a reminder to do this in the evening around this time. Anyways... My laptop hard drive crashed yesterday. So I am reinstalling Windows while I'm writing this. I prefer to use my personal computer for work as there are so many restrictions on work computers. So I rely on it a lot. Yesterday, it just

New succulents

Had an unplanned (but long overdue) refurbishing of our courtyard and balcony plants today. First, we harvested organic compost c/o our worm farm, fed with coffee grounds and kitchen scraps (thanks wormies!). Marcus was quite enthused with his sweet potato harvest and we had enough baby sweet potatoes and potato tops for replanting. We still had enough soil to repot our new indoor plants c/o Ate May's Plants. They go very well with our wine rack and kitchen counter. That's it for today. To be continued tomorrow. #SpringIsHere
